LINKS TO GREAT PAGES  Disability Links NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services, Inc.)- A non profit organization established to provide Hearing and Service Dogs for people who are deaf or who use wheelchairs. These Assistance Dogs become an extension of their owners and bring security, freedom, independence and relief from social isolation to their human partners. Joni and Friends- This site belongs to Joni Eareckson Tada. Although she is a quadriplegic in a wheelchair, she leads a worldwide team of staff and volunteers and is actively involved in assisting and training others in a wonderful disability ministry. 	For Children's Writers & IllustratorsInstitute for Children's Literature- Lots of information about writing for children. There are writing tips, interviews with editors and authors, and a chat room. They offer a good course for writing for kids, but you don't have to be enrolled in their school to take advantage of the great information on this site. Picturing Books -This site is dedicated to picture books. Great for illustrators and for picture book writers Write4kids.com- Packed with articles, interactive tools and cool freebies...all about the art of writing children's books.  You'll find page after page of advice found nowhere else online. About.com Children's Books- Hosted by Elizabeth Kennedy, this About Com site is packed with info for children's writers/illustrators. The Drawing Board- Children's illustrators will love this site. It has a guild to pricing, will tell you how to prepare your portfolio and much more Organizations to Help Writers & Illustrators Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators- The largest children's writing organization in the world who offers a variety of services to people who write, illustrate, or share a vital interest in children's literature. The SCBWI acts as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people. New England branch of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators The Children's Book Council- A non-profit trade organization dedicated to encouraging literacy and the use and enjoyment of children's books. This site has loads of useful information. Authors' and Illustrators' Sites Welcome to Jan's World of Writing- I met this warm lady at a writer's conference and later took a writing course that she taught. Let me just say that she definitely knows about writing for children as you will also discover when you examine her informative site. Children's Author Verla Kay- Go to this site to get  information on how to get started writing for children, and what to do after you start selling. I particually like Verla's monthly workshops (IRC chats) where she chats with authors/illustrators, editors, and agents, who focus on all kinds of interesting topics concerning writing for children. If you miss the live chats you can read the transcripts from past workshops. Cynthia Leitich Smith Children's Literature Resources- This wonderful site has interviews with children's illustrators, authors, and experts. Read the news from the literature community with articles and resources for writers as well as bibliographies. Self Publishing Para Publishing- Dan Poynter gives you the tools to make your self publishing venture faster, easier and more successful. This site has hundreds of pages of information and free documents.
